Our Commitment to the Environment: Concrete Actions for a Sustainable Future
Our daily commitment and attention to detail reflect our strong belief that every small gesture contributes to preserving the beauty and health of our planet.
Every day, we strive to keep our spaces well-maintained and clean, because a tidy, waste-free environment not only improves the quality of your stay but also creates a more pleasant atmosphere.
Recycling is one of our top priorities—a value we pursue with consistency and responsibility. Properly sorting waste is a simple act that takes very little time, yet brings enormous benefits to nature. That’s why it’s important that everyone does their part.
Recycling That Makes a Difference: Turning the Past into the Future
Recycling is one of the things that makes us unique. Some have described our campsite as “an open-air museum,” where art and recycling blend into a perfect harmony.
Every corner of our campsite tells the story of objects that, thanks to the creativity and dedication of our Francesco, have been given a second life—transformed into unique and original pieces.
Recycling is not just a practice here; it’s a true philosophy that sets us apart from all other campsites.
The Green Heart of the Campsite: Our Most Precious Resource
With over 300 plants, nature gifts us each year with a 100% organic olive oil of excellent quality.
Our olive trees have a centuries-old history, rich with memories. They have witnessed centuries of change and still play a vital role in our daily lives, proudly offering shade to your vehicles.
Each of our trees holds a special emotional value. Every one of them is dedicated to someone dear to us—someone who, directly or indirectly, has been part of our campsite’s story, or a figure who has left a mark on Sicilian history.
It’s a gesture that reflects our deep respect for the cultural roots of our land and our desire to honor those who have helped shape it into what it is today.
Our Story:
The story of our campsite began in the late 1970s, when Mr. Petruccio, our founder, guided by a visionary spirit and a deep love for the land, decided to transform a small patch of land into a welcoming campsite where people could immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and feel right at home.
He named it “La Playa,” inspired by the wide sandy beaches that once stretched out in front of our property.
What made our campsite special?
Mr. Petruccio didn’t just offer a place to stay—he personally guided guests through the discovery of Palermo, telling the city’s story and sharing fascinating anecdotes that made every visit unique. His passion for the territory was truly contagious.
It was he, nearly 50 years ago, who had the innovative idea to provide detailed and personalized explanations about Palermo, turning our campsite into an international point of reference.
Today, many years later, Daniela (his daughter) and Martina (his granddaughter) continue to follow in his footsteps with the same dedication. They share, in no less than four languages, the beauty and cultural richness of Palermo, aiming to offer each visitor an unforgettable experience—just as he would have done.

Tourist information
To visit the historical centre of Palermo there is a very comfortable and quick train service 800m from the campsite. The train departures are every hour and take 29 minutes to reach the Orleans station which is a short walk from the Royal Palace (or Palazzo dei Normanni). The train ticket costs € 3,30 each way.
At the reception, every day from 6:45 p.m., the campsite manager (Daniela) provides tourist information about Palermo in 4 languages: Italian, English, German and French with the train timetable and city map. The service is free and our guests have always found this information very useful. Before you organise your excursion to the Sicilian capital, we recommend you to listen and follow to Daniela’s helpful advice.
For guests who are interested, also at the reception, you can book ferry tickets: Grandi Navi Veloci.
Useful information for campers
From the campsite it is only a few minutes walk to the centre of the village, where you will find restaurants, shops, bars, pastry shops, ice-cream shops, fish shops, meat shops, bakeries, pharmacies and everything else you need to spend your holiday without too many worries. Every Thursday there is a weekly market near the campsite, while on Sunday mornings there is a farmers’ market in front of the harbour (fruit, vegetables and typical products).
The attraction of the seaside village is the fish market, which is held every morning from about 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the harbour. It is in fact possible to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen on their return from a night’s fishing, and then eat it directly on the pitch, possibly cooked on the barbecues located in various parts of our campsite.
