Tourist information
To visit the historical centre of Palermo there is a very comfortable and quick train service 800m from the campsite. The train departures are every hour and take 29 minutes to reach the Orleans station which is a short walk from the Royal Palace (or Palazzo dei Normanni). The train ticket costs € 3,30 each way.
At the reception, every day from 6:45 p.m., the campsite manager (Daniela) provides tourist information about Palermo in 4 languages: Italian, English, German and French with the train timetable and city map. The service is free and our guests have always found this information very useful. Before you organise your excursion to the Sicilian capital, we recommend you to listen and follow to Daniela’s helpful advice.
Train tickets can be ordered at the reception desk. For guests who are interested, also at the reception, you can book ferry tickets: Grandi Navi Veloci.
Useful information for campers
From the campsite it is only a few minutes walk to the centre of the village, where you will find restaurants, shops, bars, pastry shops, ice-cream shops, fish shops, meat shops, bakeries, pharmacies and everything else you need to spend your holiday without too many worries. Every Thursday there is a weekly market near the campsite, while on Sunday mornings there is a farmers’ market in front of the harbour (fruit, vegetables and typical products).
The attraction of the seaside village is the fish market, which is held every morning from about 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the harbour. It is in fact possible to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen on their return from a night’s fishing, and then eat it directly on the pitch, possibly cooked on the barbecues located in various parts of our campsite.
